How long does fallout last in civ 5

So the tile is effectively useless until the fallout is removed.

I've definitely seen cities start to starve when hit. Fallout itself doesn't damage units, though. Getting nuked is pretty bad. That is, unless you nuke the city containing their nukes first. What else would you rather nukes do to make them good enough? Nuclear weapons will leave damaging radiation in their blast radius for 20 turns, with all units that end their turn in that zone taking significant damage. This happens automatically when either any civilization reaches the Information Era, or once half the world civilizations still in game reach the Atomic Era. The first Spy is gained when any Civ reaches the Renaissance Era.

Each player in the game then gets an additional Spy when their Civ moves up an era, allowing for a maximum of five Spies, six with National Intelligence Agency. If possible you can build Security Bureau, that building helps thwart rival spies. So you nuked the world ten times over and just left!! Classic lol! But yh like Mordeth said, workers can clean up all the fallout. And as far as I know ur wokers won't get hurt from it. They'll feel the effects later lol.
