Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected. Would it be for the greater good or for your own benefit? The Walking Dead is still considered the go-to zombie series, and there is a lot of love for defeating the undead when it comes to cartoons, shows, and anime. High School of the Dead has the typical setup for a zombie horror story, deserving a spot on this list. It sounds incredibly generic, especially with the seemingly stereotypical anime tropish characters.
However, High School of the Dead proves to be something more than it portrays. Morality is questioned, characters take unexpected turns, and the show is overall an enjoyable watch. What first appears to be an expertly told story about the horrors of war turns into a terrifying dark fantasy engulfed by demonic forces. Though Netflix has a three-movie CGI adaptation of the series' arc, the Berserk is worth the trouble seeking out, if only for the excellent, affecting opening and closing themes.

This shonen classic is horrific as it deals with a man who slowly transforms from Light into "Kira," a serial killer known the world over, and the police effort to take him down.
One of the biggest anime phenomena this side of Attack on Titan also happens to be fairly terrifying, kicking off with protagonist Tanjiro Kamado's entire family, save for his sister Nezuko who turns half-demon, being brutally mauled in the pilot.
Though the series makes room for quieter, melancholy episodes in its arcs to highlight Tanjiro's deep compassion, it's really all about the horrifying and beautifully animated demon battles as Tanjiro slashes through whomever he must to find a way to turn Nezuko back into a human. Watch it now on Netflix , Hulu , Crunchyroll , or Funimation. This reimagining of a Go Nagai classic is one of the best modern reinventions for an anime series yet.

As a result, Akira becomes a "Devilman," or a demon that can retain its human nature while gaining immense power from a demonic form. An unforgettable bloody ballet of violence, gore, sex, and psychedelic visuals from singular creator Masaaki Yuasa.

Genocyber, just watch the first episode if you want smt scary. No matter what youbpick, do it post mid night, in the dark and alone, don't matter how unsettling the anime is if you have a nice ambient around you.
I hate when I see peopIe watching good stuff in an inefficient way. But Anime that managed to creep or scare me to some extent. So called actual "horror" genre. Then probably "Ghost Hunt" been only Anime that managed to creep the fuck out of me. Shinsekai Yori Yikes They were just children.
I don't think fictional works have the capacity to be 'scary'. Most of them build tension, create eerie atmosphere, abuse your imagination with established tropes or jump-scare. Anime would have to be incredibly immersive to accomplish even the most basic elements of horror. Most of them bank on empathy and abuse it to no end. As for your inquiry, you're too vague.
Suddenly, someone slaps you with a brick wall. Unari said: I don't think fictional works have the capacity to be 'scary'. Yami Shibai has the atmosphere where it's pretty creepy, not sure about scary though.
Magical Girl Site is the only legitimately disturbing anime i've seen. I couldn't get through the second episode. Very suspenseful, at the least. Imo, mangas are better when it comes to horror, like Junjo Ito. Other anime give me uneasy feeling when watching but Ghost Hunt and Shiki give me creepy feeling that i dont rewatch it.
I just realized that all of my favorite characters, beside being stunningly beautiful, also happen to be exceptionally skilled murder machines. Perfect Blue is the only one I've seen that was even good. Haven't seen, but are well-recieved: Mononoke, Ghost Hunt, Shiki. Maybe horror; well-recieved: Hellsing, Parasyte, Paranoia Agent.
The soundtrack has this silent hill video game not movie vibe where it has this industrial sound and feel to it where it can be very anxiety inducing. The psychological elements are very brilliant and loves fucking with your head.
It doesn't use any jump scares, only psychological horror. I think there's a considerable difference between Western's horror and Eastern's horror, which would explain why I mostly find Asian horror movies scarier than Hollywood horror movies. Also, I can relate to horror anime just fine, perhaps because of me being an Asian.
I don't mean to sound racist here; just trying to point out cultural differences. There are no anime like that as far as i am aware of And lol at the people saying perfect blue which i watched alone in a dark room at midnight.
